Intermission at Loop 139
After leaving, your bag lays down
with all the grace of a dying flower;
time elapses before our eyes
have the time to recognize.
The swoop of cognizance
into a scene builds it as sure
as any building; leaving, our eyes
meet beneath the train's rhythmic rumble.
I don't recognize you, but I will
when the rain creates reason
to extend my hand
from my world into your's
with what remains of my umbrella.
I'm imagining a memory of you;
a seed kicked from place to place
inside the last car of the Loop Line.
Patience puts each particle in place.
